50 years of the Georg Forster Station

The motif of the special postage stamp ‘50 Jahre Georg-Forster-Station’ (50 years of the Georg Forster Station) shows a technical drawing/illustration of the north view of the Georg Forster Station. In addition to the research base, the radio mast in the background and a balloon probe in the foreground are also depicted, symbolising the research field of balloon-borne ozone sounding. The additional text ‘Meilenstein der Antarktisforschung’ (Milestone in Antarctic Research) explains the scientific significance of the station and provides information about its geographical location.

The design uses the special colour ‘Pantone 2126 C’ (blue). The typography is set in the font ‘Unica 77’.
